In 1994, UAMPS acquired a 7.028% undivided ownership interest in Unit 4 of the San Juan Generating Station from Public Service Compant of New Mexico ("PNM"). The coal-fired steam electric generating unit is located approximately 15 miles west of Farmington, New Mexico. UAMPS' ownership of the San Juan Project provides approximately 35 MW of the generating capacity. Unit 4 has been in commercial operation since 1979 and is jointly owned by PNM, the City of Anaheim, California; the City of Farmington, New Mexico; the County of Los Alamos, New Mexico; M-S-R Public Power Agency, and UAMPS.
